Garment care

The right care for your clothes

We want your clothes to last for a long time. Therefore, we have compiled a few useful tips for cleaning and caring for your favourite garments.

Every garment has a care label that contains information about the permissible treatment and care. Care treatment adhering to the label's specifications will prevent your garment from taking damage.

Please note that specifications do not guarantee that every stain can be successfully removed. Gentler cleaning methods and lower temperatures are allowed anytime.

Please find the current care symbols regarding washing bleaching, dryiing, ironing and professional cleaning with their meaning.

  • 40° normal wash cycle
    • Wash cycle for dark colours made of cotton, polyester, blends, for example. Select an appropriate washing programme.

  • 40°C gentle wash cycle
    • Easy-care items, for example, made of modal, viscose or synthetic fibres (polyacrylic, polyester and polyamide). Reduce the quantity of laundry (the drum should not be more than half full). Select an appropriate washing programme. Avoid spinning or do spin for short periods only to minimise the risk of creasing.

  • 40°C delicates wash cycle
    • Items made of machine-washable wool, for example. This wash cycle has a particularly gentle mechanical action. Reduce the quantity of laundry substantially (the drum should be not more than one-third full.) Select an appropriate washing programme (e.g. delicates, wool).

  • Hand wash
    • Water temperature max. 40°C, depending on the item. First dissolve a mild detergent/wool detergent in plenty of water. Allow the textiles to float in the solution and agitate carefully. Do not rub, pull or wring out. Then rinse the textiles well, press the superfluous water out carefully and pull the items into shape. Quickly treat colour and sensitive wash items and do not leave them in a wet condition.

  • Do not wash
    • Items with this label should not be washed. They may also be sensitive to any type of wet treatment, or due to their size, they are not suited for treatment in a household washing machine.

  • All bleach types
    • Chlorine and oxygen bleaches permitted.

  • Only oxygen bleaches permitted
    • The triangle with two oblique lines indicates that oxygen bleach (contained in universal detergents) is permitted, but not chlorine bleach.

  • Do not bleach
    • The triangle with a diagonal cross indicates that bleaching is not allowed. Use only bleach-free detergent.

  • Dry flat
    • Do not spin, dry flat.

  • Normal drying
    • Drying in a tumble dryer is possible under normal load without restrictions.

  • Gentle drying
    • Caution is appropriate when tumble drying. Select a gentle programme with reduced action (temperature, duration of treatment).

  • Do not tumble dry
    • Item not suitable for tumble drying.

  • Hot iron (200°C)
    • Corresponding to the "cotton/linen" iron temperature setting: iron whilst damp, moisten if necessary. Shiny or pressure-sensitive pieces should be ironed with press cloth or ironed inside out. A steam iron may be used.

  • Iron at moderate temperature (150°C)
    • Corresponding to the "wool/silk/polyester/viscose" setting: iron under a moderately moist press cloth. A steam iron may be used. Avoid heavy pressure. Do not pull out of shape.

  • Do not iron hot (110°C)
    • Corresponding to the "polyacrylic, polyamide (nylon), acetate" iron temperature setting: shiny or pressure-sensitive pieces should be ironed with press cloth or ironed inside out. Caution when using steam irons (work without steam if possible). Do not pull out of shape.

  • Do not iron
    • Irreversible changes must be expected if an iron is used.

  • Dry cleaning – normal cleaning process
    • Professional dry cleaning – normal cleaning process. Treatment in cleaning machine with the following solvents: perchloroethylene, hydrocarbons. Normal cleaning process with no restrictions. Commercial stain removers on a solvent base may be used with some restrictions. We recommend a pre-test on a concealed part of the item.

  • Dry cleaning – gentle cleaning process
    • Professional dry cleaning – gentle cleaning process. Treatment in cleaning machine with the following solvents: perchloroethylene, hydrocarbons. Cleaning process with stringent limitation of added humidity and/or mechanical action and/or temperature. Commercial stain removers on a solvent base may be used with some restrictions. We recommend a pre-test on a concealed part of the item.
